Proposed Tasks

Task 1 : automatic rubbish sorter

the user can throw the rubbish right away by click the material button without need to sort it manually

Task 2 : notification alert of space in the trash can

• The user can know the space inside the trash can
• The user will get the notification when the trash can is full
• So user can know when they need to take out their rubbish outside
• For waste manager, they can know which trash can that they need to pickup

Task 3 : application that can locate and know the condition of trash can

• The user can locate the location of trash can when they want to throw rubbish
• For waste manager, they can locate the trash can to pick up the rubbish to the designated center

Persona

User 1: Primary School Student

Kamil is a 12 years old student. He is studying at SK Sri Indah. His favorite subject is science which also makes him have a very good curiosity about nature and his environment. He is also a student who loves to tidy his stuff and make things in order. He likes to keep things clean and symmetrically perfect. He has a mild OCD symptom which sometimes can get anxiety when things around him are not organized or clean.


He really loves everything about nature and having a good environment is a must for him. But, he barely knows the terms for 3R and recycling.He knows the act of recycling but didn’t know the benefit of it. At his school, there was no recycle trash bin which made it difficult to perform recycling.

User 2: Household User

Ms. Aminah is a 45 years old housewife, who is taking care of the house while babysitting her twin daughters. As a housewife, Ms. Aminah likes to finish her job fast and perfectly.


As a fulltime housewife, She has to cook, clean the house, wash the clothes, wash the dishes and babysit her daughters. She is also an environmentalist. She wants to sort her trash accordingly so that she could send them to the recycling center for recycling.

User 3: Waste Manager

Mr Mazlan is a waste manager who sometimes goes to pick-up trash in the neighborhoods near where he lives. Although the process of picking up trash is long and difficult enough for them to settle, to sort the trash is another matter that takes a lot more time.


As a waste manager, he also sorts his trash at home to make sure he practices 3R to make sure the environment is clean and healthy. Although the act of recycling might not amount to much in the environment , Mr Mazlan knows that its effects could save the environment as no matter how small the result is, the effort is what is most important.

Scenario

Task 1: Sort trash manually

The school bell ring shows that it is recess time for Kamil. During his science’s class, he heard the terms 3R and recycling during his class and he didn’t understand enough about it. Since he is a curious student andis This makes him curious more to know about recycling and 3R. he opens up his laptop and starts searching about recycling and learns a bit about it. He loves the idea of recycling and would like to perform it.


So, he started to search the nearest recycle trash bin and try to sort the trash that he brings according to its type of waste. He learned a lot on how to recycle and feels like a ‘hero’ by simply sorting the trash because he believes in the great benefits of it.

Task 2: Take out/ clean up full trash bin

Mr Mazlan morning every Sunday starts at 8.00 A.M where he and his co-worker went to the neighborhood to pick-up trash. A full cycle usually takes around 4 hours across 3 different neighborhoods in the area.



As a waste manager who collects trash from the neighborhoods with the truck, Mr Mazlan always finds it a problem whenever the trash bin is fully loaded with trash as they need to lift the trash bin which is heavy and filled with a stinky smell especially during the rainy days. Although he is used to it, he wishes things could be easier for him as his body is not as good as when he is young anymore, and he also has chronic disease.

Task 3: Request to recycle newspapers to the nearest location

It is a hot Tuesday and Miss Aminah still has to keep the house clean and take care of her children. As a busy housewife,, after spending a lot of time sorting out trash, she needs to either send the sorted trash to the nearest recycling center or they could wait for the truck for recycling to pick-up their trash at home.


However, not all areas have the truck going to collect the trash at their home. Therefore, she has to go out and send the trash to the center which could end up taking her busy time while also leaving the house unattended. If she could call or contact someone to pick-up her stuff for recycling could reduce her burden.
